42x anvil angle - RonB1957 - 06-09-2020
I am not in a position to check the angle of the 42x saw set anvil. Anyone know this angle off hand? Working on a hammer setting project and thinking of the automated hammer setting vs the hand hammer setting consistencies vs hand setting with a 42x. I have seen conflicting information on these methods. Soooo I just started burning some saw dust and thinking of tooth setting fixtures etc.. Obviously an automated/ CNC type setter would be the fastest method, but as I said. Just burning some saw dust. I still use the 42x, but I know there are some folks in the brain trust here that may actually know this sort of information.

The angle is between 14 and 15 degrees (about 14.25) The amount of set is determined by how far down from the tip the base of the angled face meets the tooth. You get more set by lowering the anvil.
