RE: Next Project? - bandit571 - 10-02-2020 Clamps removed about 1400 hrs, today....looking a bit rough [attachment=29980] Well, we have ways... [attachment=29982] Block plane helped out on the end grain spots, and flush trimmed the round plugs.. [attachment=29983] As the square plugs weren't working out too well... Sharp corners ere eased with the block plane...some spots were sanded. Getting to the point of HOW to slice off the lid....combo square set to 3/4"...run a line around. Was running the square along the top of the box... Checked the bandsaw....had to raise the guide all the way up. Checked the table to see how it lined up with the blade and the cut line....was a hair out...fixed that. Then it was on the operator to saw the line.... [attachment=29984] Well at least they will still match up.. [attachment=29985] Close the lid, clamp the box in the bench vise..and install a couple hinges.. [attachment=29986] Flip it over, and install a latch.. [attachment=29987] Then glue the tap holder inside... [attachment=29988] Then trim some padding to fit in the lid, and glue that in place.. [attachment=29989] Then went and got out the can of stain and a brush... Stay tuned...have a stained up PIP coming right up... RE: Next Project? - bandit571 - 10-02-2020 Ok..for some reason or other...every time I apply a coat of stain to a project....I wind up with a coat on me, too...anyway, started with the bottom of the box.. [attachment=29990] Then the ends..then the back.. [attachment=29991] then the insides, but not the padding [attachment=29992] Close the lid, and do the front... [attachment=29993] Then the top... [attachment=29994] Then wipe it all down....then load things up... [attachment=29995] Yep, they all fit, and the lid closes... Waiting on the stain to dry overnight...then see about a top coat...trying to decide IF I want a card holder on the lid....about the only spot big enough.....decided against handles, this time around.. Stay tuned RE: Next Project? - Bill Holt - 10-03-2020 Fella, you knock out projects so fast, it's hard to finish my popcorn. As I mentioned earlier, you have inspired me. Thank you for making WoodNet an interesting place. RE: Next Project? - bandit571 - 10-06-2020 And...the finished box... [attachment=30064] Front.. [attachment=30065] An End view... [attachment=30066] Look for the cut line.. [attachment=30067] Boxes behind it? well, that be it's new home.. [attachment=30068] Trying to build a set....labels, too [attachment=30069] Thanks for looking in RE: Next Project? - stav - 10-06-2020 Looking good. You're going to need to build some shelving in your shop to showcase all the tool boxes you are building. |
