Earlier lathes came equipped with four-prong centers for head stock and dead center in tailstock plus a face plate. You had to lube the dead center use a spacer between it and turning to keep from burning wood.

Today's lathes come with live center, 4-prong center, and face plate.

A lot of homemade treadle lathes do something you are talking about using two sharp metal points & foot power.

Not sure what you want to do, maybe this video will help you:

Hadn't thought of that...back to the drawing board.

I did see one guy who used a Tee Nut epoxied to a hex bolt, cut the head of the bolt, then chucked it into his drill.

I do not understand how one would chuck a live center into a 1/3hp drill using a Forstner bit??

Please explain.

I think the OP is wanting to use a forstner bit as a drive center.but I could be wrong..I would just get a lag bolt with machine threads on one end and wood screw threads on the other and use a drill chuck as a "drive center"...but it also seems to me that the OP needs more info on how lathes work.......if a fan motor is going to be used, more machine work will likely be needed...Not sure whether or not you can even buy a live center with a straight shank..Morse taper is the norm.....I would advise checking Youtube for how to make a home-made lathe.

Some videos need to come with a safety warning with an accompanying pre-application for the Darwin Award.

Please understand do not agree using either hand drill or drill press for turning wood a good idea. Yes, people do it and will continue to try too! As long as there are videos like those found on You Tube people will be asking questions.

Admit forstner bit new twist on a different level. Cannot wait for the video on that one!

Spend some time on history, and see how things were turned before VFDs and 3 HP iron behemoths.  Might learn something.

Anyone remember the "Vertilathe?"
