You have it fastened too tightly. When I did my lattice I used a 3/8" drill bit to drill the holes in the lattice. Then used a #8 sheet metal screw with a plastic washer in the center of the 3/8" hole... |

If you used pvc or plastic lattice it is expansion and contraction of the product. |

Yes you can get a 40 amp sub. Most panels have a 100 or 125 amp bus rating. By feeding it with a 40 amp breaker would give you a 40 amp sub. |

3/4" schedule 40 PVC will handle 4 #6 thhn/thwn conductors.[br]#6 thhn/thwn copper is good for 65 amps at 75 degrees C.[br]I would pull 3 #6 and a #10 ground.[br][br]By the way you do not need 11/2" ... |
