I would keep the saw and cut the rails down. The footprint would go way down. A plywood top would make it into a light duty workbench to serve double duty. Replace one of the wings... |

I just finished putting handles in 2 hammers. Both handles are hickory. Both hammers will be used for woodworking and will not be exposed to any grease.

Well..... Its a done deal.
I ended up using a hickory handle that I already had. (purchased at the same time as the head). Its a lot longer than what I had intentions of. I'll use as is, choking up... |

Depending on the fit and intended use, wood wedges should suffice. Mahogany may well prove to be too soft though, the head will never stay tight if the wood... |
