Just saw this on Ask This Old House, where they built a box and finished it with polyurethane glue, and applied a coat of wax. Very interesting.

I did that, ripping my finger about an inch. I was surprised at the healing process, no stitches, just keeping it wrapped in  saline soaked gauze and plastic wrap. You can see the skin/tissue regenera...

Would go with Sherwin Williams over Behr paint. Behr paint does not hold up well, painted a porch railing a couple years ago and the paint is peeling.

make a square patch from 1/4" wood, and hammer and chisel the opening to accept it. then epoxy and nail in place.

pocket screws to me look horrible, although they do serve a purpose. But for his level of skill, it is a travesty.

I like the oil based urethane or shellac, waterbased poly just does not seem to look as good.
