Thread: What do you think of this new Rikon Lathe
Post: RE: What do you think of this new Rikon Lathe
The idea is cool for a small shop especially. I'd much prefer a hand wheel to slide the bed thought. Like the XY table on a bridgeport. Crank it, lock it, don't worry about it. |

It was nice to turn I think because it was green. It was a PAIN to clean off first, because I literally dug it out of my yard. Actually I yanked it out with my buddy's winch. And it's gnarly, so you n... |

Second and third things I ever turned (just last year) were this mallet and lamp from Yew root balls from my front yard. CRAZY grain. I hit what I thought was a bark inclusion but tur... |

Wrapping the threads with something like teflon tape could work. Or maybe dental floss or something? Just to make the fit more snug. Or find a gap-filling thread locker. Or maybe hit the screw with s... |

I didn't read every reply in detail I'll admit, but I recently got a remote for my (much smaller Jet 650) DC, and in reading the manual it said that often times the motors, once on, can mess up the si... |

I love overengineering. I can't do it at work, so I do it at home :) Sometimes in an effort to save money, or use what I have, or sometimes just dreaming big! |

Thread: Electrolysis copper and stainless steel (Update)
Post: RE: Electrolysis copper and stainless steel
Not sure about electrolysis, but I would think you would want some sort of non-conductive bushing between the dissimilar metals to prevent that going forward. |

I don't think we have a reducer valve, but I'll double check. It's not a sharp rise in pressure, minimal. I should have made a youtube video before posting! |

Setup is: ranch on a slab... |

Thread: Cutting Board with Inlay
Post: RE: Cutting Board with Inlay
I did a "brick wall" one a few yeaRs ago and I actually made up end grain strips for the "grout". Definitely fragile, so you'd be limited in how tight the bend would be, but it's doable. |

Amazing color out of that poplar! I bet you spent some time selecting just the right board. I see a lot of different uses for the skew on the youtubes. I need to get on that bandwagon too. |

Thread: What's the proper way to sand and paint a steel front door?
Post: RE: What's the proper way to sand and paint a stee...
If you end up with scratches from sanding, a couple coats of a high build primer will allow you to sand them out. Brian gives excellent advice above too! |
