Rather than try to break it, you might trade or sell it to a pen turner or a knife maker. I think it would make exceptional knife scales. It might also work well for pistol grips.

Pretty nice figure on that wood, but it looks like a piece of crotch walnut, not burl. If that is what you have, I would be much more concerned about strength than stability. If I am see it correctly...
