You'er over thinking it, although I would stay away from the 1/2 laps on a door this size, I'd go with M&T or even a pinned through M&T. |

2x2's is common for a cabinet this size, but you can do what you want to achive the look you want, 2x3,4,5 isn't uncommon to reduce your front profile yet have a wider style for the side panels.

How old is the house, do you have galenized pipes, this could be the cause of the low water pressure which means a new shower head isn't going to help. |
