I find a planed surface to be the best one. In a perfectly world, we would slap finish on wood right from the cutting tool.  But we don't live in a perfect world.  So we futz with different angles ...

Honestly, you probably want a different arbor. IIRC, the shopsmith branded blades have a 1" or 7/8" or other goofy arbor for a 10" blade.[br][br]You can get a standard 5/8" arbor pretty cheap on eBay...
