If functional condition is good and the irons have plenty of life, $30 is what I would offer for that particular plane.  The collector ones which are all nice and shiny I would offer more. Mark

Marc Adams school of woodworking offers a week long class on making a guitar. I've never attended, but my brother-in-law has been to the class and enjoyed it so much the first time he took it again.

Search for "knife shop" and find something close to where you will be. These shops often carry chisels and other edge tools and a wide variety of sharpening media.
