Are you certain the glass is glued in place on those tables? I think it would be better to leave the glass loose and let gravity do its thing.

I guess I would start with the companies that make adhesives for bonding lens elements together. There is a hobby category of people who make telescopes and they use that adhesive. It would necessarily be clear. It might not work well with a very porous surface. You might have to finish the wood prior to gluing up.
Epoxy is opaque, silicone adhesive and E-6000 dry a bit milky. I would not be happy with any of those choices.

Smooth on makes two products that may work. One is a
Urethane and the other is an
Epoxy I think the epoxy would be the best bet. It is optically clear and really strong. The trick will be controlling trapped air and squeeze out.
