Funny that this post just appeared. I think my PC 7518 just died on me mid cut. Its 10 years old. Is it possible for the brushes to die mid cut? I don't have replacement brushes with me right now so I'm not sure its the brushes. But in the past, when the brushes went, the router would not start.
What other models beside DeWalt would you recommend to replace the PC7518?

Give the Milwaukee 5625 a look, it might work for you.
I started with absolutely nothing. Now, thanks to years of hard work, careful planning, and perseverance, I find I still have most of it left.

I'd definitely give the brushed a look. May be worn down enough there is no spring pressure left.
If the armature isn't toast, I'd fix it.
