Cheers to Tabitha Babbitt
#5
In honor of International Women's Day, a tip of the hat to the Shaker woman, Tabitha Babbitt, who invented the circular saw and for being generous enough to allow the design to be freely shared rather than patenting it for personal gain.
''How can we ever hope to understand atoms?'' Heisenberg had lamented that day.

''I think we may yet be able to do so,'' Bohr replied. ''But in the process we may have to learn what the word 'understanding' really means.''
