full frame replacement window recommendations
#5
I need to replace several windows and I want full replacement types. I live in central South Carolina and of course there's the BORGs but I want good quality. Any recommendations?

Thanks for all the help in the past,

I went with Anderson in our house. I did have some issues on two windows that were little shorter than ordered. Course that's better than too tall. Too tall and there is no way to put it in. Next time I'll go with thicker casings as there is little to attach the window to the house since when new you have flanges but replacements you can only slide it in and screw into the studs from the inside of the frame at a big angle to actually catch the stud. The foam actually does the fastening of the window not the couple screws you get In.

Also make sure to flatten the corners of the brick under the window as it reduces the amount of caulk needed to seal the WI dow to the brick.

Next time I'll probably go with triple pane and there is one new company here that has good prices installed that aren't much more than the price of windows.

I don't know your budget but I have found Marvins to be about the best available out here. Anderson is good I have some of those too but I really like the Marvins. Milgard has a lifetime warranty but if you leave casement windows open for long periods they tend to sag and repairs under the warranty can take a long time to get done
