I've experimented with several Aniline dyes, both alcohol and water-based.
Turns out, some w/b dyes are also reactive to alcohol, and visa-versa.
I've had Mohawk penetrating dyes (alcohol) bleed through into a water-based topcoat......even after adding a barrier-coat of shellac.
