Hi Skip,
    No, these are factory stock, just a little Feed-n-Wax added on them.  I think that plane frustrated the original owner enough that it never got used much.   It took some fiddling to make it work like I wanted

Thanks for the reply Chris;
I may strip my 3 Craftsman totes down and see what is under all that mess...  The #5 size one's tote is covered with paint drips...  The only red parts are the frogs and they're not shiny.  I could repaint the black areas but they are in pretty good shape already..  No fiddling required to put'em to work...  Yours sure does look good!

Most interesting surprise I got stripping a tote and knob was on a record #3, the tote was walnut and the knob was beech.  That explains why the finish was so thick that I felt compelled to strip it, because before I started they were the same color.  Pretty good feat.
