You could also use dowels.

Can't say enough about the cast iron ones, great for maintaining consistent filing angles as you repetitively file something because it allows you to register your grip on the holes in the file holder; it's the only kind I use for filing saws where consistent rake and fleam angles are very important.

But do not do not DO NOT use a file or rasp without a handle.  If it jams, the tang can injure your hand.

Your local hardware store should have them, unless you're unlucky enough to have a useless hardware store.

Even a cork is an improvement over nothing.

I bought some years ago from either Lee Valley or Rockler. I'm not sure if they still carry them.

Use dowel stock or an old broom handle.

Another vote for Skrooz-on (or however it's spelled). I treated all mine with BLO, they feel great in the hand.

Funny on occasion, embarrassing on average.

We are woodworkers, making a wooden handle is easy.
Find a tree branch that fits your hand, cut to length (4").
Drill a hole smaller than the tang.
Tap file into handle,,,,,,,,,,,,,done!
