Sweep to diameter chart for carving gouges?
#7
My google fu is weak.  Does anyone know where to find a chart that gives the diameter or radius in mm or inches for each 'sweep' for carving gouges?

My bookmarks are so disorganized I can't get to things that I know I have saved in the past ...
However, I was able to come across this article written by Don McConnell:

If a picture of each sweep and size will help, TFFW includes a chart in a pamphlet: https://www.toolsforworkingwood.com/stor...t2012.html

That's without measurements. So maybe the opposite of what you're looking for.

Look here:  http://www.diefenbacher.com/sweeps.htm and Deifenbacher is a great guy to buy from too.

As you can see, it's not considered important what the radius is.  I guess a guy could make a quick vertical cut in a surface and work out with a compass.  What do you need to know for?
Better to follow the leader than the pack. Less to step in.
