Melamine magic eraser sponges
#3
Is anyone using melamine magic eraser sponges in the manner we might use 0000 steel wool or scotchbright, for light derusting or rubbing a finish between coats? I'm particularly interested in rubbing a finish between coats as steel wool leaves steel splinters and scotch bright is expensive. For what it's worth these magic eraser sponges can be bought in generic form for about 1/10 the price of purchasing them in a grocery store.
I don't want to brag, but some of my wood is on its 2nd or 3rd project!

If its just taking off dust nibs or very fine "polishing" or smoothing, I often just take a piece of typing or computer paper, or even a clean unprinted piece of brown paper grocery bag. Smooths without taking of any finish. Does not de-gloss.
