Twas a power tool sort of day, today....Ganged up the panels...set up a jig to crosscut them to the same length

Left them ganged up, needed the edges jointed, until they matched each other..

Then set things up to mill two rebates,,

Laid out and then sabre sawed for the feet..

Then set up to mill four sliding dovetail joint in each panel..

Cleaned the place up, set up the Stanley #2246 Mitre  Box and saw on the bench....tomorrow, I can start cutting parts for webframes

Back was getting stiff and sore.
No ..was 5:00 pm anyway..
Rolleyes ...Closed the shop for the day...

Cool

Smaller mitresaw, I can cut frame parts to size here, more room than the area the Langdon 75 sits at.  Have 8' boards to cut to size..

Ok, got the frame parts all cut down to sizes needed.

These are the rails for the webframes, plus a kicker..

These are the front and back "stiles"  for the 4 webframes..

These are the four rails for the face frame, and..

The two stiles for the face frame.   need to put the "little Mitresaw " away..time for the Big Mitresaw...
Winkgrin

Need to set this up to make the cuts  (shoulder ) to make tenons.   Need to clear the bench and set up the mortise jig...have a few of those to do, as well
Rolleyes
Mondays, the shop USUALLY is closed....we'll see...stay tuned

Set up the mitresaw for a bunch of shoulder cuts..
Cool

Cheek cuts were with the bandsaw...
Uhoh

Had one tenon to "fine tune" with a chin-powered chisel...
Cool

Finally got all 8 rails tenoned..
Winkgrin

Then I could start on the mortises
Rolleyes

Takes a few more "Toys" to do....

Stay tuned, part 2 of today's follies is coming right up...

Mortises?   I guess that is what these are called...
Rolleyes
Needed the jig set up..

Nothing real fancy....also needed a few other toys..
Winkgrin

The backsaw comes in handy.   Visegrips Finger clamp to hold the part IN the jig.  Couple of Mortise chisels. Combo square...needed one rail to do the layouts with..

Then that backsaw to make to cuts, at a diagonal...
Cool

Then the chisels to chop & pop the waste out....then a dry fit..
Uhoh

I now have two mortises done....A lot of other items got done today, as well...that's another story
Winkgrin

Need the do 7 more stiles, with a mortise on each end...after 2+ hours IN the shop, on a Monday
No  camera battery and my back said it was time to close the shop....@1700 hrs.   Maybe I can drown a couple ice cubes in some Scotch
Confused ...stay tuned

Ok, last two frames are clamped up, waiting on the glue to cure...
Cool

Looks like my mallet is trying to run away....as for the rest of the "old tools"..
Rolleyes

About time to put them away...had to add the sandpaper to the mortise jig..
Uhoh

The "jaws" are getting a bit worn out...may have to replace them, before too much longer.
Confused

Nice to be able to sit down and run the saw....trying to leave the lines, or at least split them.   Then, dig a small hole...
Rolleyes

then come in from the end and pop the waste out.

Frames will sit overnight, tomorrow I'll set up for some dovetail milling.....ends to to fit into the sliding dovetails, after all.
Stay tuned

All frames are out of one set of clamps..into  another set..

Ends trued up..dovetail pins milled..

Front and back edges were also trued up..

Then a kicker was added to one frame..

Why change bits...just change drills
Winkgrin

Once all the frames are in place...stand the case up..
Uhoh

Need to install the shelf panels and the back panel.   next time I go to the shop

Stay tuned
