Splash only water stones in an unheated shop?
#5
Does anyone have any experience with using splash only(no soak)  water stones in a space that might occasionally freeze?  Is there sufficient water absorption for the stones to crack?  Thank you for your experiences.

I have forgotten a water stone in a tray with some water, maybe a quarter inch, when temps dropped and I left it for a few weeks.  The edges spalled a little but no cracks.  This was an old King stone, maybe 1000 grit.  I don’t soak my finer stones.
