Rustic Cherry Hope Chest
#11
Hi, guys

A friend of mine asked me to build a hope chest for his wife. He didn't have any idea what he wanted it to look like, nor did he have any preference as to wood, style, or finish. The only "help" he provided was her favorite color, and favorite flower...

This is what she's gonna get. I just hope she likes it....

I added green flocking to the drawers...

The original rose did not turn out as planned.
Crazy What you see here is the second incarnation - which while not perfect, turned out considerably better. The stem & leaves are dyed veneer...

So there it is!

I love the way the finish brought out the cherry! I'm kinda proud of the end result - even if it's not perfect...

Zat from the Woodsmith plans from years ago, maybe a 25+ year ago issue? I built the same one.

I would call it Classic rather than rustic.

It looks like a beautiful chest, but calling it a "hope chest" should make the husband pretty uncomfortable, no?

Beautiful and I really like project photos done in the shop they came out of.
