You know the saying, “give me a lever long enough and I can move the world”?

Yeah. Get that. You’ll need it to unscrew the anode rod fitting.

Put a cap on it. It's not a safety valve, so don't worry about it.

The next water heater you get, install a brass ballcock valve on it.
