Adirondack Chair Screws

Just a word of wisdom from a metallurgical engineer who used to be the company expert in corrosion....

Galvanized screws will start to rust in 5 years. A bit longer if you're in the desert. A bit less if you live on the beach by saltwater. If you're old enough to remember metal trash cans, you will know what I'm talking about. Hardly a single metal trash can lasted longer than 5 years. Once the zinc coating is gone, the steel will corrode, and then it's just a matter of time.
Still Learning,

I use the Kreg blue coated screws. The color really stands out and looks pretty cool in some projects.

I'm driving 3-1/2" stainless screws though 2X decking into the joists below without a problem (usually
Rolleyes).  Stainless screws for a cedar chair should work just fine.
