Gas Fireplace howling in wind

Do you have a flue damper??  If so, is it open when not in use?
With a chimney that tall you are going to get a lot of draft.

The SO asked me today, "what are you going to do to day"? I said "nothing".  She said, "that's what you did yesterday"! Me, "Yes love, but I was not finished yet"!!!!!!!!

Mine used to do that, I found a 5" thick piece of foam and stuck it in the flue right above the damper and it solved the issue. Also put a note on the damper that it was up there; we don't use the fireplace much......

It's a natural gas fireplace with a concentric vent. There is no damper.
