A few of the saws I made for WIA

Every one is outstanding Iassc, but the one in stainless gets my vote... because I know first hand the difficulty working it and how well it turned out....I can't get over the detail you put into those handles!!! The crispy lines and edges are beautiful!!!!!!!

Belt sanders are great for fixing boo-boo'd bevels. Not so much for boo-boo'd fingers.

Took a pretty good chunk from my left middle finger once on a freshly sharpened blade. Didn't feel a thing, just wondered where all the blood on the bench was coming from!

  Resawing on a 14" Bandsaw
Posted by: jteneyck - 10-20-2013, 04:12 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (8)

Very nice set up! Thanks for sharing.

I think you enhanced your work with the used of the doubled feather boards to keep the stock against the fence.

I have the Delta 14" as well. For re-saw, I use a 3/8" blade, which allows me to gain some more tension. I'll keep an eye open for a replacement spring to gat a bit more tension--though I've had great success with the stock spring up to 6" white oak stock----haven't had to get wider as I'm mostly resawing to get 1/2" thickness stock for small projects.

  A bookshelf for Little Man

Not sure I'm the one to answer your questions but that's a very nice bookshelf you built. Short of a fire he should be able to hand it down to his kids at some point. You already know how to build that one. Even with the new time constraints I would seriously consider building the same thing again. The second should go faster due to less time spent head scratching.

  Your favorite antique tool store?
Posted by: oarlock - 10-10-2013, 08:30 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (10)

I go to a local place here in Gilroy CA. Collective Past is a place where I'm known on a first name basis. I never go there looking for any one particular thing, I just buy whatever tickles my fancy. The model for their business is one shop with numerous dealers, each having their own stall. One stall is a specialist; tools only. When any of my coworkers asks me what they should get for a hand plane I always tell them to avoid new ones like the plague. "Just leave it to me, and I'll get you a good one at a good price", Ill say. I've only done this a few times, but it gives me some satisfaction knowing they won't buy a modern St****y plane in the box.
(Shudder)
I've always done it as a friend, never for money.

  A new project...

I like it!

Is it my imagination or are the window panes larger (on the 3D model) in width on the outer panels?

Because the panels on the original all seem like they are the same width

  Another project with better pics
Posted by: Scoony - 10-08-2013, 06:30 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (4)

I'd say it's a vast improvement!

A little more even lighting and you are there. When you really want to make yourself nuts download Gimp photo software (if you are running windows) to tweak the photos.

Glad someone found something I posted useful.
